Residential Architecture
Grove Studio is a Melbourne-based architecture and interior design practice. We specialise in residential renovations and extensions, with a particular love for heritage homes.
We work with clients who want a home that is personal, carefully resolved, and properly managed from first conversation through to construction.
We bring curiosity, practical knowledge and a love of design to every project. Your interests and the way you want to live inform the work, alongside the history of the house and the character of its surroundings. Through close collaboration with you, we develop these influences into architecture and interiors with a character of their own.
About the Practice
We believe a home should be a pleasure to live in.
A home should bring people together, offer respite from busy days and adapt as life changes. We see lasting usefulness as an important part of our approach to sustainability.
We design architecture and interiors together, from the floor plan to the door handles. We care about how things are made, how materials age and how a home feels to use. Much of that care goes into anticipating ordinary actions: where you put the groceries down, how you move between preparing food and washing up, or whether you can step outside to cook under cover when it rains. Thinking these things through is part of making a home a pleasure to live in.
The practice takes on a small number of projects, with Dylan leading each one throughout. This allows time to get to know our clients, develop ideas together and see those ideas through documentation and construction.
Those relationships are a lovely part of the work, and often continue long after clients have moved in.
About Dylan Grove
Dylan Grove is a registered architect with over a decade of experience in architecture and interiors across Melbourne and Copenhagen.
Dylan enjoys developing ideas with clients and helping them see what their home could become. His experience in residential architecture helps him anticipate the decisions ahead and explain the choices involved. He makes time to talk through what matters, so clients understand the implications and can make informed decisions as the project progresses.
Originally from New Zealand, Dylan studied architecture at RMIT in Melbourne and undertook an exchange at the Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen. His time in Denmark deepened his appreciation for furniture and craft, and their place in the design of a home.
